New Sanrio Kawaii Factory Store & Cafe in Harajuku

Calling all Sanrio fans! It seems like Christmas just came early for lovers of the kawaii-verse because Sanrio opened a brand new shop in Harajuku, Japan, and it’s just bursting with cuteness. Officially named the Sanrio Kawaii Factory Store & Cafe, this new 3-level shop is filled to the brim with exclusive Harajuku-themed merch, decor, and don’t forget, yummy goodies!

The shop officially opened on December 11, 2025, at Takeshita-dori in Harajuku, and we were lucky enough to visit the Sanrio Kawaii Factory Store & Cafe on its opening day just for you! Put on your cutest Harajuku girl outfit and let’s explore Sanrio’s newest Harajuku store together.

First Floor

Sanrio Kawaii Factory

This is the entrance of the Sanrio Kawaii Factory Store, and boy, does it scream Harajuku cuteness with its pink walls and its unique decor! In the very center of the first floor, you’ll find a giant Harajuku Hello Kitty statue that seems to have come from the kawaii future. It’s one of the most unique Hello Kitty decor out there with its giant holographic eyes, its rainbow river, and its sea of hearts.

Sanrio Harajuku

If you’re looking for special items from Harajuku, then you’ll find a ton of super kawaii options on the first floor of the Sanrio Kawaii Factory Store. It has exclusive Harajuku-style Sanrio goodies ranging from special plushies dressed as Harajuku girls, Sanrio character Harajuku socks, shirts, and so much more. It even has Sanrio accessories to complete your Harajuku girl outfit!

Second Floor

While the first floor of the Sanrio Kawaii Factory Store is pastel pink, the second floor, on the other hand, is painted in baby blue. It’s a special level of the shop where you can find the cutest Sanrio character DIY items that you can assemble right then and there. You can pick out keychains, and bags, and pouches to decorate with Sanrio character plushies, charms, and badges.

DIY Sanrio

The second floor also has another fun DIY station where you can grab a glass container and fill it to the brim with your favorite Sanrio character figures like Kuromi and My Melody. Once you're done picking out all your goodies, you can line up at the cashier, and they’ll bag everything for you. The Sanrio Kawaii Factory Store also has special shopping bags showcasing your fave Sanrio cuties in a Harajuku rainbow world!

Third Floor

Sanrio Cafe Harajuku

This is where you’ll find the Sanrio Kawaii Factory Cafe! Decked with neon Harajuku light decors, it’s the perfect place to take a break after all that serious Sanrio Harajuku shopping. Though you’ll need a reservation at the cafe (there’s also free seating but the store is usually packed full), there's a little take-out nook where you can also get yourself some of the yummiest treats like Sanrio character donuts, cake rolls, and merch that you can find from Sanrio food trucks.

If you do manage to nab a reservation, you’ll be seated in a special Sanrio Harajuku-style cubby where you can sit down and relax with your besties! Plus, you’ll also get a free character candy for making the reservation ahead of time.

Sanrio Cafe Harajuku

The cafe session starts with a selection of teas, and then the cafe servers will give you a menu to choose from. There are Sanrio character burgers, afternoon tea sets, Sanrio character drinks, and other tasty goodies to chow down on! Imagine ending your Sanrio shopping sesh with a relaxed cafe vibe.

There you have it! Our little tour of the Sanrio Kawaii Factory Store & Cafe has come to an end. Filled with all sorts of special Harajuku-themed Sanrio goodies, this shop is certainly a must-visit for any kawaii fan. We hope you enjoyed our trip to the new Sanrio Store! Until next time, stay kawaii!
