Kuromi The Kawaii Rebel!

Kuromi The Kawaii Rebel!
Kuromi is one rebellious cutie! With her edgy style and dark charm, she’s one of Sanrio’s most unique characters.
Tough on the outside but sweet on the inside, Kuromi is full of surprises! Is there someone who makes her blush? And what’s the deal with her rivalry with My Melody? It’s time to get to know this cheeky but charming rebel!

Who Is Kuromi?
Kuromi is an edgy bunny with a devil-like tail and a black jester hat topped with a pink skull. Her birthday is October 31st—yes, Halloween!—a perfect match for her prankster personality. In the Sanrio world, she’s about 5 to 6 years old, loves stirring up pranks, and likes riding her tricycle with her biker gang, the Kuromi’s 5.
In Japanese, her name is クロミ(Kuromi) which means “black beauty.” This perfectly matches Kuromi’s dark but cute style. Despite being all tough and edgy, Kuromi actually has a softer side. She secretly loves romance novels and has a huge crush on Bad Badtz-Maru! Kuromi tries to act cool around him, but she becomes flustered whenever he’s around.

Kuromi & My Melody: Friends Or Rivals?
These two iconic Sanrio bunnies have a complicated relationship. They’re known to be rivals, though there’s no real hatred! In fact, Kuromi cares about My Melody—she just doesn’t like to admit it!
Their feud? Well, Kuromi believes that My Melody was out to ruin her life, thanks to the “terrible” things she has done, like eating the last pickled onion from Kuromi’s food tray and accidentally ripping out Kuromi’s notebook. She’s even recorded 6,234 diary entries of My Melody’s “wrongs”! Yet, when it matters most, they always end up on the same side.

Unlike other Sanrio Characters, Kuromi wasn’t originally created as a stand-alone kawaii character. She first appeared as a villain in the anime “Onegai My Melody.” In the series, she’s an escaped prisoner from Mariland, a magical forest where My Melody lives.
Even though she was supposed to be My Melody’s enemy, Kuromi was so cute and hard to hate! Eventually, she became an official Sanrio character and one of the most popular ones today.
